Oak trees are often associated with strength, stability, endurance, and wisdom due to their size, robustness, and long lifespan. They also symbolize honor, nobility, and even power and authority.
In today’s scattered, instant-gratification, dare we say, “artificially intelligent” media and marketing landscape, it’s sometimes crucial – and even gratifying – to “zoom out” a bit…To see the trees that comprise the forest…and remind ourselves that at its core, marketing is educating and communicating real information to real people – not trying to jam a pop-up ad through a viewer’s eyeballs into their brain.
While referring to a 19th-centry essayist, poet, philosopher, and naturalist may seem “dated” when discussing 21st century marketing, many of Henry David Thoreau’s words hold tremendous credence today. For instance, an excerpt the one that inspired our name:
“…Two sturdy oaks I mean, which side by side,
Withstand the winter’s storm,
And spite of wind and tide,
Grow up the meadow’s pride,
For both are strong
Above they barely touch, but undermined
Down to their deepest source,
Admiring you shall find
Their roots are intertwined
Insep’rably.”
Friendship, by Henry David Thoreau, 1838
Just as the branches and root systems of two oak trees intertwine and support each other, Two Oaks seeks to connect with our partners at the root level, all the way up to the canopy.
We believe in delivering the kind of marketing, communications and support embodied in the strength, stability, endurance, wisdom, and robustness of these massive trees that can live for hundreds and even thousands of years.
